About Puducherry Pondicherry has grown to become one of the most rated holiday destinations and attracts a large number of tourists from all over the country throughout the year. Its “the place” every college student wishes to visit. It has sometimes been called ‘Goa of the east coast’ for sharing similar scenic beaches and culture. Even after being a quaint little seaside town on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, best accessed by road and train, it hasn’t failed to emerge as the strongest ‘crowd magnet’ down south. Eclectic cuisine, beautiful beaches and heritage buildings dating back to the colonial era of French have contributed to its success as a tourist destination. The population almost doubles during the weekend due to the humongous influx of visitors from the neighbouring cities.
